On October 30, Toyota Motor unveiled two new exclusive editions of the Lexus UX300h hybrid crossover for the Japanese market. These editions, named Emotional Explorer and Graceful Explorer, are designed to cater to different driving preferences and aesthetics.
The Emotional Explorer edition is inspired by the sporty F Sport variant and stands out with its eye-catching two-tone design. It features a black roof and black-painted side mirror caps, providing a dynamic contrast to the body color. Additionally, this version comes with specially designed alloy wheels featuring five pairs of twin spokes, painted in black with machined accents to give them a distinctive look. The interior is equally sporty, with seats upholstered in a bold black-and-red leather combination that enhances the vehicle’s athletic appeal.
In contrast, the Graceful Explorer edition emphasizes elegance and sophistication. It comes with a silver-finished grille and matching alloy wheels, giving the vehicle a refined and polished appearance. Inside, the seats are covered in light brown leather, and the steering wheel and gear shifter are wrapped in Ltex synthetic leather, providing a luxurious touch. The Graceful Explorer also includes advanced features such as a power-operated tailgate and a 360-degree camera system with a “transparent floor” view for improved visibility.
The Lexus UX300h hybrid powertrain consists of:
- A 2.0-liter M20A-FXS gasoline engine producing 152 horsepower and 188 Nm of torque,
- An electric motor (1VM) with an output of 83 kW (113 horsepower) and 206 Nm of torque,
- An eCVT (electronic continuously variable transmission),
- A lithium-ion battery.
The hybrid system operates in a parallel configuration, offering a combined output of 199 horsepower. The standard version is front-wheel drive, but customers can opt for the e-Four system, which adds an electric motor on the rear axle. This 30 kW (41 horsepower) motor delivers 84 Nm of torque and activates when additional traction is needed, particularly at the start of driving. The lithium-ion battery pack, consisting of 60 cells, is notably lighter compared to the older nickel-metal hydride batteries used in the previous 250h model. Positioned under the rear seats, the battery placement also contributes to increased cabin space.
The Emotional Explorer edition is priced from 5,452,000 yen (approximately 36,400 USD), while the Graceful Explorer edition starts at 5,110,000 yen (approximately 34,100 USD).
These new special editions reflect Toyota’s commitment to offering diverse options to meet different customer needs, combining performance, style, and advanced technology in the Lexus UX300h.
